Arequipa Trekking Volcan Misti 2D/1N

The Misti volcano is a stratovolcano in the south of Peru, located near the city of Arequipa, considered as one of the 10 active and / or potentially active volcanoes of this part of the Andes mountain range.

Itinerario:

DAY 1: AREQUIPA + MISTI

A private vehicle picks us up from the hotel and two hours later we arrive at the base of the Misti (3300msnm). The view changes dramatically with the increase in altitude due to the different state of oxygen and atmosphere in this area We camped at 4300msnm. The view towards the city of Arequipa at night is beautiful with the city lights in the distance and the bright stars above us, while the light of the camp kitchen gives us warmth as well as a hot food and a cup of coffee.

DAY 2: ASCENSO VOLCAN MISTI + AREQUIPA

An early breakfast, which includes the option of coca mate (a mate based on coca leaves that will help us counteract the effects of altitude). After breakfast we start the ascent of about 5 or 6 hours. The top is a natural observatory in the distance you can see the volcanoes Chachani and Picchu Picchu, Aguada Blanca reserve, Salinas Lagoon, the city of Arequipa, small villages and of course, the unique and beautiful crater of the Misti volcano.

All the energy you spent climbing the Misti recovers in the descent. If you wish, you can run, ski (if possible) or slip, because being sand, allows you to cushion your steps and allows you to stop easily when you need it. We packed the tent and then began to descend for another two hours to the place where we left the transport. We returned to Arequipa.
